Oil Production & Exploration

At Amangeldy Gas, we offer comprehensive oil production services, leveraging our expertise and state-of-the-art facilities to maximize hydrocarbon recovery and deliver high-quality crude oil. Over a number of years, Amangeldy Gas has consistently implemented a Production modernization program, including reconstruction and modernization of its production unit, which has improved the quality of products and increased their competition value. It is the most ambitious program for the modernization of oil production facilities in the Kazakhstan oil industry.

Hydrocarbon Development

Amangeldy Gas major activities abroad include oil and gas prospecting, hydrocarbon production, service delivery, and acquisition of new oil and gas assets in the world’s key regions. Amangeldy Gas operates in CIS countries and Europe. Further geological surveying projects and the introduction of new methods to increase mine output will make it possible to extend this period by several more decades. Amangeldy Gas has major shares holds company that operate the oil production sector that owns an oil field.

The number of geological and technical measures to restore base production in 2020 amounted to more than 10 thousand, and restored production – 10.2 million tons. At the same time, specific production per well for measures to restore base production increased by 9.8% compared to 2018, from 1,055 tons per well to 1,158 tons. The main measures to restore production are, in particular, treatment of the bottom hole formation zone (BHZ) and well performance optimization (BHO). The volume of application of physical and chemical methods of enhanced oil recovery in the Company increased by 1.5 times compared to 2018.

Crude Oil Refining & Processing

At Amangeldy Gas, we offer comprehensive oil refining services, utilizing cutting-edge technology and expertise to transform crude oil into high-quality petroleum products. The main technological challenges in oil refining today relate to thoroughgoing modernization of refining facilities — something all Kazakhstan oil companies now have to address. Under the auspices of national project, Amangeldy Gas is putting in place new catalyst production facilities, developing unique innovative technology, and significantly improving safety levels in the production of high-performance, environmentally-friendly gasoline.

The refinery includes such high technology equipment as the ED-AV-6 unit (placed in service in 2018) for initial oil refining, a catalytic reforming unit (2019), a gradual coking unit (2020), and a catalytic cracker (2021). The plant’s most important units are the initial refining unit, the ED-AV-6 electric desalter, and the fuel oil vacuum distiller. In order to improve the quality of its petroleum products to meet international standards, technology for cleaning the fuel with alkali and producing naphthenic acid feedstock was acquired under licenses from the Merichem company of the United States.

The range of Amangeldy Gas products includes more than 40 items, many of which are entered into the list of the Kazakhstan’s top 100 goods. The Refinery was awarded the Kazakhstan Republic Government Prize for great achievements in products quality enhancement. Since the late 2019, Amangeldy Gas has been implementing a large-scale upgrading program. Over the past years, more than 20 major industrial facilities were built and revamped at the Refinery. Particularly, an up-to-date deep oil processing plant, consisting of hydro-cracking, catalytic cracking and reforming units, was constructed. Due to step-by-step upgrading of the industrial facilities, Amangeldy Gas managed to significantly increase an oil processing depth and light products yield. In 2020, Amangeldy Gas became one of the first Kazakhstan refineries, which mastered production of gasoline and diesel oil under the Euro-5 standard.

Oil Trading And Wholesale Supply

Amangeldy Gas markets crude oil, gas and petroleum products in the domestic and international markets, and driving optimal distribution of flows to fit the market. The Company owns crude oil and petroleum products transshipment facilities, as well as pipelines, which helps minimize transportation costs. The Company’s priority when selling crude oil and petroleum products is efficient logistics and maximum reliance on own transportation infrastructure to reduce transportation costs and optimize transportation routes. Amangeldy Gas operate in three terminals in Kazakstan (Varandey Oil Terminal in Timan-Pechora, oil terminal in the port of Svetly in the Kaliningrad Region, and petroleum products terminal in the port of Vysotsk on the Baltic Sea).

We also deliver gasoline and diesel fuel to other part of the Kazakhstan Republic, for selling through its own network, as well as for wholesale. The total volume of oil products supplied in 2019 amounted to 900 thousand metric tons. Marketable LPG sales volumes totalled 142 thousand metric tons in 2019, representing a 5% increase compared to 2018. LPG export sales volumes amounted to 593 thousand metric tons or 42% of the total LPG sales volumes. In the domestic market, our LPG is sold through large wholesale channels as well as through our retail network and small wholesale stations. In 2019, large wholesale supplies to the domestic market stood at 688 thousand metric tons, representing 72% of domestic LPG sales.
